In line with everything we think and do, Soulkitchen continues to create places where people can gather, connect, and feel a sense of belonging. Wherever we are, we look for ways to encourage meaningful relationships and contribute to the health and strength of the communities in which we live.

This has been at the heart of Soulkitchen from the beginning. In Perth, Australia, we created spaces for connection and faith through shared meals and hospitality. Later, for more than a decade in Vancouver, Canada, this same vision took shape through our partnership with More Than a Roof Housing Society, an organisation dedicated to creating and managing communities with affordable housing for people impacted by low income, mental illness, or addiction.

With tenants involved, Louise and Hannes facilitated food preparation and service while mentoring outreach teams and volunteers in kitchen and practical life skills. The work was always about more than food: it was about creating a place to belong, building friendships, developing confidence, and encouraging people who had often experienced significant disadvantage to participate and thrive in community.

We remain deeply grateful for the many partnerships that made this possible, including IGA Marketplace on Robson, Earls Test Kitchen, D-Original Sausage Company, and Terra Breads Olympic Village. We also worked alongside local churches — sharing resources and ideas and providing meals for churches that lacked adequate facilities or needed additional support for community outreach. Today, the Vancouver program is being carried forward by the team that grew through those years of shared work, relationships, and experience. We are thankful for what was built together and confident in their continued contribution.

As Soulkitchen continues to grow and evolve, our heart remains the same: to inspire and encourage people and churches, nurture meaningful relationships, and help create healthy communities where people can flourish.
